Friends of Sierra Leone Expresses Solidarity With Flood Victims, Seeks Ways to Help The US-based group Friends of Sierra Leone (FOSL) has expressed “heartfelt sympathy and condolences” to the people of Sierra Leone affected by the flooding and mudslide of 13 August 2017 which has claimed hundreds of lives, damaged and destroyed homes, and left many of the survivors homeless.
“We would like to convey our deepest sympathy and solidarity to the grieving families of the victims and all those affected by this calamity,” said FOSL President Peggy Murrah. “FOSL has stood with Sierra Leoneans through the war and the more recent Ebola crisis. We continue to stand with Sierra
Leoneans in this tragedy.”
In the next few days, FOSL will be consulting with others, including the US Embassy in Freetown, the Sierra Leone Embassy in Washington DC, and NGOs working in Sierra Leone, on how best the group can help.
