Question Mark over John Sesay’s Official Declaration
Many irate supporters of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) party are questioning as to what the former Sierra Rutile Boss, John Bonor Sesay means by his official declaration when he has already abandoned his lucrative job as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the above mentioned mining company for the envious position in the land.
It is clear that the APC party normally nominated a Presidential candidate that is not only popular or coming from any stronghold from the provinces but must also be well known and embraced by grass root supporters that formed the large part of the population in the country. Did JBS come from any stronghold which the party can boast of galvanizing millions of support ahead of the 2018 general elections?
Political analysts are of the view that it would be very tough for JBS to win the APC Presidential Flagbearer bid when considering the high level profile of people that have expressed interest to take the party to State House come next year.
The former Sierra Rutile Boss should have been the best candidate for the APC as a grass root party but what is not clear on his side, is whether he is known among common people at Abacha and Dove Cut that live from hand to mouth on a daily basis.
Other set of people said, John Sesay belongs to the elitists class of people which means he either has less or nothing to do with the uneducated class of people in society who are temporarily used by politicians in election campaign periods and soon kicked out after gaining power.
JBS official declaration is considered among meaningful citizens as not a new development but it is just a strategy for him to appear brighter in the eyes of the public because he has demonstrated interest for the standard bearer of the party even before many other APC stalwarts like Alpha Khan, JFK, Petito and others. So it is clear that the road to the Presidency through the APC ticket is never an easy task for any aspirant because it is full of influential people such as Zainab Hawa Bangura, Kaifala Marrah, Dr. Samura Kamara among others.
Sierra Leone is a country that is globally noticed to have been practicing regional voting system in elections since ancient days which mean every candidate must come from somewhere or else that individual would be considered as not a potential representative.
President Koroma won the Presidency peacefully because not only that he was chosen by God and loved by the people, but he came from Bombali District which everyone believes to be a stronghold of the incumbent, a quality many politicians that are now aspiring to lead the party never possessed.
This is just a piece of advice for the APC decision makers to entrust the Party’s Presidential bid to a person that must deserved it for the fact that it must not base on familiarity, favoritism but must be given to any lucky man or woman who will be willing to work for the interest of the whole country without fear or favour.
