Kamarainba posts his own bail in Sierra Leone
The Chairman and leader of the opposition Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, who appeared before Segbwema Magistrate Court yesterday, has been granted bail.
The ADP Strong man was represented by Nine Lawyers, some of them travelling from Freetown, Bo, and Kenema to see that he is legally represented.
Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray was initially arraigned before Magistrate Alhaji Sulaiman Koroma of Kenema Magistrate court, on three counts indictment, ranging from unlawful possession of stun gun, contrary to section 13(1)of cap37 as amended by section 5 Act No.6 of 1961, unlawful possession of small arms without authority, contrary to section 19(2)A of Act No.14 of 1965 as repealed and replaced by section 10 of Act No. 7 1978 and carrying offensive weapon, contrary to section 16(1)of the public order Act of 1965.
The magistrate presiding over the Segbwema Magistrate Court, George Bobor Samani, also granted bail to another ADP loyalist, Mohamed Bangura in the sum of le5m and one surety who should be a native of the Njaluahun Chiefdom, Kailahun district, and bail to be approved by the Deputy Master and Registrar.
Mohamed Bangura was charged together with Kamarainba but both accused have since been released on bail.
Both Mohamed Kamarainba and Mohamed Bangura were supported by the natives of Kailahun District and beyond. The people displayed solidarity for both accused by storming the court room. Even the police officers who provided security for the court hearing were said to be visibly scared by the mammoth gathering, all in favor of the accused persons.
The matter was adjourned to the 21st June, 2017. The matter is presently prosecuted by Inspector Aiah Mafinda while Lawyer Saffa Abdulai is leading the defense team.
The ADP leader is expected to enter Freetown in grand style over the weekend.
