Rioters languish in correctional center
Muctarr Shyllon and five others, who in October 2016 were arraigned before Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara of Court No 1, were yesterday refused bail by the bench.
The accused persons were standing trial before the court on two count indictments ranging from conspiracy to commit murder contrary to section 4 of the offences against the persons Act of 1861 and Riotous conduct contrarily to section 12 (A) of the public order Act No 46 of 1965 as replaced by section (1) of the public order amendment Act No (2) of 1973 and Act No 15 of 1973.
It is alleged that on 28th August 2016, Fredric Street, Freetown the accused persons conspired together with some persons unknown to murder Ishmael Suma. On the same date and place the accused persons behaved in a riotous manner. The accused were represented by CF Edwards and J T Deen Tarawalli whilst Inspector Bah was prosecuting the matter.
In another development Saidu Conteh is also facing a one count of carrying offensive weapons without lawful authority or reasonable excuse contrary to section 16 (1)of the public order Act No 46 of 1965.
It is alleged that, Saidu Conteh on Friday 9th September 2016 at Lumley-Freetown was found carrying offense weapons in a public place at the Lumley bus park.
The matter was adjourned to 11th November 2016.
