In a vox pop conducted by our reporter in the Moyeaba Community especially at Water Na Life, most residents lamented the deplorable road network which they claimed has prevented vehicles from plying in that community.

They took the opportunity to draw the attention of Government, NGO’s and other organizations supporting development in the country to their decades of predicament during the official launch of a Community Based Organization (CBO) called ‘Wan Word Unit’ Organization (WWUO) in one of the community schools  last Sunday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of WWUO, Mr. Yusuf Kamara, disclosed that the organization was formed on 10th January, 2016 by three reputable women to bring community people together to foster development especially in the area of road infrastructure.

He blamed their children’s lack of access to better education on the terrible road condition which he said does not attract development programmes in the community, such as the construction of health centre, pipe-borne water, social amenities, schools and other learning institutions.

The Chief Executive Officer of Tangible Academic Youth Forum Organization (TAYFO), Mr. Alieu B. Sesay, who is also Director of Studies at the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation Computer Studies Sierra Leone Branch, thanked the organizers of the programme.

He described the launch of WWUO as not only timely, but also a big development for the Moyeaba Community in particular and Sierra Leone as a whole.

Mr. Sesay, who also has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the effective and efficient running of Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) and Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s), emphasized the essence of transparency and accountability in sustaining an organization.

He entreated members to always work within the mandate of the organization to achieve their aims and objectives.

Mr. Sesay also sensitized the executive members on the drafting of an activity plan to meet their target.

He expressed excitement over the total involvement of many women in the organization.

Mr. Sesay awarded scholarships to two children to study computer amidst applause.

Speaking on behalf of Hon. J.K. Smith of Constituency 103 where Moyeaba Community is located, Mr. Noah Kamara described the launch of the organization as a very good initiative.

He assured that the issue of road construction at the Moyeaba Community is very pertinent and at the bottom of their Member of Parliament’s heart.

Mr. Kamara described road infrastructure as the engine for growth, while the Vice President of the organization, Mr. Alhassan Bangura alias Re Devil, reiterated that one of their main objectives is to find ways and means to develop their community which he said had lagged behind for far too long.

The Vice President called on the appropriate authorities such as the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) to see reason to construct or rehabilitate the deplorable road network in the Moyeaba Community to integrate development.
