BBC media action boosts SLBC in BO
The Programme Manager Global Grant BBC Media Action, Musa Sangarie (in photo), has on behalf of his organization donated broadcasting equipment to the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) FM 96.5 in Bo, Sothern Region, as a way of broadening the effective sound broadcast system at a ceremony held at the television recording studio on Dambala Road, Bo.
Among the donated items were Marram Recorders 32 GB, computer desktop, computer laptop, printing machine, active giant speaker and speaker stand, quality cables, micro-phones XM 58, head splitter, batteries and battery charger and many other gadgets.
In his keynote address prior to the official presentation of the equipment to SLBC South, Musa Sangarie expressed delight at the exemplary work of the SLBC Management and Staff in the Southern Region.
The Programme Manager said the same donation has been replicated in the regions in the country.
He said the Department for International Development (DfID) supports their activities globally for quality production.
Mr. Sangarie commended Abraham Batilo Mattia and the Management and Staff of SLBC for their relentless effort and the cohesiveness in their job relation.
He said when all other radio stations applied for partnership SLBC’s application was quickly picked amongst the rest because it was heavily rich.
Mr. Sangarie said BBC Media Action is at present operating with forty-two radio partners in the country with equal opportunities, adding that talks about the transformation of the knowledge acquired must be showcased for all other activities. “Accountability and good governance are two different things,” he said.
The Programme Manager furthered that accountability is not about witch-hunt, adding that “tok bot salone” programme will let everyone become aware of the fact that election is around. He said each time a leader speaks, you see vision in it.
In his welcome address, the SBLC Station Manager, Abraham Batilo Mattia, reaffirmed that SLBC is one of the six regional radio stations that have gained the privilege to partner with BBC Media Action with great success, adding that previously, it was BBC World Service Trust that aided their work.
He said each time someone has the opportunity to scheme up with BBC Media Action, they you must benefit out of it.
On behalf of the Director General of SLBC, Elvis Gbanabom Hallowell, Abraham Batilo Mattia said BBC Media Action is the highest donor in terms of quality broadcasting.
The BBC Media Action ICT Officer, John Gaya, said his main work is to make sure all technical aspects in the organization is properly done together with the technicians on duty, noting that any good radio show equipment is the best solution. He also explained the essence and operation of the equipment.
During the official presentation of the equipment to SLBC by Musa Sangarie, contributions were also made by the Media Director New Harvest Global Ministries, Richard Lahai Ngevao, and the Ministry of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment’s representative, Bob Anthony Whyte Kelvin Lamin Lamdo, who moderated the presentation of the equipment.
