Member of Parliament for Constituency 063 in Gbonkolenken Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Hon. Dr. Abdulai Bundu Daniel Sesay, has recently commissioned the newly constructed Patefu Mayawa Community Centre.  Hon. Dr. A.B.D. Sesay, well done

The MP commissioned the new community centre during the Easter break and the occasion was graced by many Government officials and other dignitaries, including the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Minkailu Bah, the then proposed Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, Paramount Chief Member of Parliament for Tonkolili District,  Hon. Bai Kurr Kanagbaro Sanka (III), and the Deputy Ambassador to the Republic of The Gambia, Madam Rosaline Oya Sankoh.

The programme was lined up with several sporting and social activities to climax the commissioning of the community centre, including female and male bicycle race, and football gala organized amongst the four wards in the constituency, while trophies and individual medals were awarded to winners.

Commissioning the new community centre at Patefu Mayawa village, Hon. Dr. A.B.D. underscored the significant purpose of the occasion, noting that the commissioning is among his plans to fulfill his initial promise to the constituents.

He disclosed that the programme of activities he lined up for the commissioning of the community centre was to unite his people in order to live in peace and tranquility in the Gbonkolenken Chiefdom, adding that without peace there would be no development programme in any community.

Hon. Dr. A.B.D. Sesay maintained that the commissioning of the community center was a wake-up call for the fulfillment of his initial promise, adding that he felt honoured and gratified to construct the community center for his people of Patefu Mayawa.

He assured the constituents that in spite of the numerous challenges faced by his leadership, he would ensure that his relationship with them waxes stronger and stronger with open hands for development.

The MP appealed for more cooperation from key stakeholders for the development of Gbonkolenken.

He disclosed plans to commence the construction of community centres in other communities in dire need of them, including Mayopoh village, but however cautioned them to exercise patience as development is gradual process.

Hon. Dr. A.B. D. Sesay expressed appreciation to all and sundry especially the Government officials and dignitaries that accompanied him to his constituency for the occasion.

He however expressed special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Minkailu Bah on the reformation of his constituency in terms of education, adding that the Education Minister has given the opportunity to children in his constituency to attend high quality standard schools despite they had their own share of the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

The MP disclosed that he and the Minister have been very much supportive of enhancing and promoting high performance of quality education in that constituency with more access to quality educational system as priority.

Dr. Sesay called on the Minister to pay more attention to Gbonkolenken in terms of national development, noting that they deserve more representation in Government.

He personally acknowledged the efforts of some indigenes in terms of development programmes, including Mr. Edward K. Sesay alias Edakay, Constituency Chairlady, Madam Ababiatu Sesay, Pastor Gbala who monitored the construction of the community centre.

In his statement, Paramount Chief Member of Parliament, Hon. Bai Kurr Kanagbaro Sanka (III), expressed thanks and appreciation to President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma on his recent nomination of Madam Rosaline Oya Sankoh as Deputy Ambassador to The Gambia, and Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden as Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs.

He described the commissioning of the community centre as a milestone in development in the Gbonkolenken Chiefdom, adding that the indigenes should focus more attention to both Dr. Minkailu Bah and Dr. Sylvia Blyden for national re-organization in terms of governance participation.

Hon. Bai Kurr Kanagbaro Sanka (III) expressed the need to develop and improve on one another’s love for the progress and development of the chiefdom, adding that no nation can develop without strengthening its human resources.

The PCMP encouraged women to pay greater attention to the education of their children, quoting that “quality education brings equality as well as differences.”

Hon. Bai Kurr commended Gbonkolenken for providing adequate support to his people in Mashingbi with regards to medical care, noting that Gbonkolenken also enjoys electricity supply.

Speaker after speaker showered praises on Hon. Dr. Sesay for his development strides in Gbonkolenken and urged him to do more despite the numerous challenges facing him, including Madam Rosaline Oya Sankoh,

Dr. Sylvia O. Blyden, Dr. Minkailu Bah, who  assured Gbonkolenken of providing more assistance as may be required by law for him to provide and promote the education system in that part of the country.

The occasion also climaxed by the awarding of cash prizes to participating teams in the football gala dubbed as “Hon. Dr. A.B. D. Sesay’s 1st Anniversary 2016  Trophy”, which ended 2 – 1 in favour of Councilor Sulaiman A. Bangura aka Osoya of Ward 218, while the team of Councilor John Mansaray of Ward 217 were the runners-up.
