Le 2 billion contract in limbo at FTC – ACC to probe Estate Officer

It has been reliably confirmed to this medium that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is interested in the alleged misappropriation of Le2 billion disbursed by Government for the construction of a hall and perimeter fence at the Freetown Teachers College (FTC) at Jui on the outskirts of Freetown.

Sources say students and lecturers of the college have expressed their dissatisfaction and frustrations over the unnecessary delay in the implementation of the said project, adding that many projects have been implemented at the college without regard to procurement rules.

According to college sources, the Estate Officer of FTC, Mr. Komba Biadi, who is a graduate from the Government Technical Institute (GTI) at Ferry Junction, Freetown, has been refusing to cooperate with the Ministry of Works, Housing and Infrastructure in the project implementation.

Sierra Express Media also gathered that students and lecturers have called on ACC to probe both the Estate Officer Mr. Komba Biadi and the Procurement Officer Mr. S. Nelson, who is at present on one-year leave after being implicated in the project implementation.

The circumstances surrounding the delay in the implementation of the project are being investigated by the Board Chairman Professor Ndomahina and the Committee Chairman, who are yet to come up with their findings and recommendations despite allegations of misappropriation of the project fund are rocking the learning institution.
