APC Women’s Wing NA Donate U$2,500 to Variety Group

The All Peoples Congress (APC) party Women’s Wing in North America on Saturday 31st October, 2015 donated U$2,500 to the Variety Children and Family Services Orphanage Transit Home at 3E Cole Lane, Kingtom, Freetown.

APC National Women’s Wing Leader, Elizabeth Mans expressed gratitude to the Variety Children and Family Services for the home that is complementing Government’s efforts to ensure the wellbeing of disadvantaged children.

Madam Elizabeth Mans stated that the various chapters of the APC Women’s Wing in North America are willing to help vulnerable children, especially Ebola orphans.

Ibrahim Kamara, APC North America President, lauded Variety Children and Family Services for the innovation to provide a transit home for vulnerable children disclosing that he has known the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization as a development-oriented individual who is always ready to help defenseless children adding, “even when the CEO was in the States, he worked with vulnerable children which he has replicated at home.”

Variety Children and Family Services CEO, Francis Lahai commended the APC Women’s Wing in North America for the invaluable gesture, the first to the home since its establishment on 1st August, 2015 and disclosed that the home sent fourteen girls and sixteen boys to foster homes and that within three months, seventy-six children went through the home while forty-six have been reunified with their families clarifying that the home is not an orphanage but a transit home for vulnerable children and foster parents to reunify with their families.

Francis Lahai further disclosed that the home had projected to receive a hundred children yearly, appealed for more support and urged well-wishers to visit the organization’s headquarters located at 41 Upper Brook Street or call +232 76 716037.

He commended the people of Constituency 108, the Councilor, Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs and other well-wishers for their support.

Dignitaries who graced the ceremony included the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Mustapha Bai Atilla Kamara and a member of the APC Women’s Wing, North-America, Mariama L. Bangura.

Presentation of the items by the Deputy Social Welfare Minister, to the CEO, Francis Lahai, climaxed the ceremony.
