Hon. ADB Sesay on Constituency Educational Intensification

Hundreds of school children became orphans almost overnight and many school girls became pregnant and education came to a virtual standstill.
When learning institutions were reopened in April this year Sierra Leoneans were happy that normalcy had returned to the country.
One area where the Ebola caused a lot of devastation is Yele.
Recently, to address the educational issues in the area the Member of Parliament representing Constituency 063 which is in the Tonkolili District Hon. Dr. Abdulai Daniel Sesay summoned a general meeting at the Yele Court Barray in Gbonkolenken on Friday 23rd October, 2015.
In his opening statement Hon. Dr. ABD Sesay stated that his priority need is to ensure proper quality educational system put in place for the development of the chiefdom and the Constituency.
He maintained that his focus is to improve the secondary school system from primary level through the provision of teaching and learning materials.
He expressed dissatisfaction on the unprecedented outbreak of the of the Ebola virus disease in the country which has created a lot of economic, social and humanitarian crises.
He pointed out that they should identify the many challenges that the educational system is facing in the Constituency and look for solutions to address them.
He assured his people that he will pay great attention to their concerns.
Councilor John M. Mansaray of Ward 217, the Head Teacher of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood (SLMB), Madam Adama Conteh, Mrs. Kumba, David Koroma, A R Sankoh, Principal of SDA, Mr. Robert A. Conteh, Yusuf Bangura, the Principal of Benevolent Secondary School, Mr. Alieu Thoronka and Pa Kparr Santie, Education Committee Chairman, Mr. Alfried Bangura, and Saidu Mohamed Bah Station Manager of the Radio Gbonkolenken among other speakers cited several major challenges faced by the Chiefdom including the lack of inadequate learning materials, lawlessness and indiscipline.
They appealed for the improvement of access to opportunities, improvement in the quality and relevance of education and the delivery of health services.
Earlier, the Chiefdom Speaker, Mr. Benson Kamara welcomed the people to the meeting with the optimism that each and every member will support the efforts of their Parliamentarian to bring development to their constituency.
