Man Hunted for Promoting Gay Rights

Gay rights has been a conflict in the minds of the many especially people living in this part of the world repealing decisions of world leaders who believe it is right for humanity to go into same sex or do anything pleasing for them as long as they live within the rule of law.   (Photo: Mohamed S. Kamara: “Homosexuals and lesbians have rights too.”)

Mohamed Salieu Kamara was among the young people around the world who was accorded with this human rights decision by the especially the British Government which in 2011, issued a statement at a world summit to tell African leaders to support gay rights or risk losing funds from the United Kingdom Government.

According to a source, Mohamed Salieu Kamara, also known as Shoe Boot, Co-Founder and Co-Editor of LGBT Activists Campaign Group, West Africa News Medium on Facebook, took up the challenge and used the social media to promote gay rights in Sierra Leone and many places around.

The human rights activist travelled to Austria, Vienna on 25rd February, 2013, and returned on 1st March, 2013.

The source further revealed that his venture angered the Sierra Leonean populace and in many cases he was haunted for death.

He then fled the country and went to the United Kingdom.

The source further stated that Kamara was informed by friends in Sierra Leone and confirmed by his sister that his life was in danger if he returned to his homeland as anti-gay rights activists were seeking to kill him.

It is believed that the Sierra Leonean law provides for up to a life sentence for male-male or female-female sexual relationship, according to the latest worldwide report on anti-gay laws by the International Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex Association (ILGBTIA).

In a brief interview with Mohamed Salieu Kamara, he said that the Sierra Leonean community is a death trap zone for him and, in fear of his life; he said he wishes to remain in the United Kingdom where he believes he will be secure to continue with his human rights activities.
