targets 2,000 Runners with Awareness Raising Marathon, Ejatu Kabba Breast Cancer Patient Appeals for Assistance

Speaking at the launch of the activity during a press conference at the Airtel Hill Station Headquarter in Freetown, Guest of Honour and Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation II, Madam Madina Rahman told journalists that most of the diagnostics needed for Breast Cancer are not in country, but that plans are currently underway for her Ministry to make available the diagnostic equipment in Sierra Leone.

She reiterated that early detection is vital for every woman, and encourage her colleague women folks to practice going for monthly examination. Breast cancer the Deputy Minister and Senior Nursing Consultant said, can also affect men, and equally advised men and women to watch their urine, exercise, and adopt monthly examination.

She told her audience that discharge from the breast is a warning sign, and that those with family history must ensure going for regular checks.

Madam Rahman advocates for outreach awareness raising programmes in communities and schools and appealed to the press for total support.

The Chief Executive Officer, Thinking Pink Foundation, Mrs. Cremelda Pratt described breast cancer as a non-communicable killer disease, and solicit financial support for Khadija Konneh a patient suffering from Breast Cancer currently undergoing treatment in Ghana.

She told the press that women in their numbers die every day of breast cancer. Mrs. Pratt noted the painful situation to lose a breast, and the pains in going through the treatment. Mrs. Pratt admonished women and girls to check any abnormality experienced.

The Chief Executive Officer said everybody is at risk and expressed thanks and appreciation to the Airtel Mobile Company for hosting the ceremony.

The Acting Managing Director Sanjeet Kumar expressed Airtel’s commitment and support to help spread the awareness raising messages, and lauded the Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation for their strides in the fight against women dying of breast cancer.

Madam Ejatu Kabba a Breast Cancer patient, who is in dire need of urgent assistance for a second treatment, in making her testimony in tears appealed to the general public for help to enable her get her surgery in Ghana.
