Modern Maternity Hospital for Calaba Town Community
Corporate Relations Manager of the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited, Albert Ojo Collier, in a statement marking the donations of food and non food items to victims of flood in the Cabala Town and Wellington Communities and the distribution of learning materials to the Aisha Islamic Primary School at Loko Town, Baptism Primary and Wellington Muslim Association industrial Estate Wellington on October 9th and 10th. 2015 has disclosed to residents of Constituency 097 and 098 that in the not too distant feature the Calaba Town Community will benefit from a modern maternity hospital to cater for the health of women residents with funds already approved by Heineken Africa Foundation.
Sierra Leone Brewery Limited donated 45 bags of rice, 45 Gallons of Cooking Oil, 50 boundless of water and used clothing to victims of the recent flooding in the above mentioned communities and learning packs containing mathematical, English and Science text books for primary schools, a dozen of note books, pens, pencils and the turning of the sod for the construction of modern toilet facilities for the above listed schools in Constituency 097.
Albert Ojo Collier noted that the aim of the donations is to show solidarity to victims of the unprecedented disastrous flood that claimed lives of innocent people especially women and children and as a private sector initiative to support the education sector at community level in a joint assessment with Members of Parliaments, Councilors and Ward Committee who selected six schools in Constituencies 097 and 098 to benefit from Le 346 millions with funds from the Heineken Africa Foundation hoping that when completed it will ensure proper sanitation in the community schools especially during the post Ebola period.
He pointed out that this is not the first such support to communities that they have given, adding that they are currently implementing a Le 2 Billion health, water and sanitation project in the above stated communities as part of their Community Development Action Plan, with the rehabilitation of the Wellington Health Centre on course, while sanitation project in Ward 352 Wellington has kicked off, as well as work on the mini dam project at Up-Mountain, Peacock Farm, Wellington.
He concluded that on behalf of the management and staff of Sierra Leone Brewery Limited and Heineken Africa Foundation he hoped that gesture will be a stepping stone to sustainable educational and hygiene support to the schools within the communities as Brewery Limited believes in sustainable growth and development of the country.
