Domestic Violence: The Paramount Chief and His Beauty Queen

Parrot was perching on one of the chairs right in front of the Resident Minister, North, Alie Gbenketay Kamara, in his well-decorated office when a very beautiful lady, Hawa Turay, breezed into the office in tears.

The aggrieved lady purported being the wife of Paramount Chief of Diang Chiefdom, Sheku Magba Koroma. She went to the Resident Minister to formally complain her husband for brutalizing her and damaging her property worth over three million Leones. In 2012, she further complained, her husband went berserk and stormed her residence where he damaged her property worth over five million Leones.

“Anytime that of my jealous husband suspects me of being in love with another man, he would go on the rampage, brutalize me and vandalize my properties and when I report the matter to the police, no action is taken, that is why I have come to meet you the first gentleman of the region to explain to you my plight with this brute of a husband,” the lady lamented in tears to the Resident Minister who kept watching keenly at the crystal of beauty before him.

After listening attentively to the disgruntled lady, all the Resident Minister could say was to advise the lady to take her matter to the police and that if she did not get justice there, let her get back to him and he would take the appropriate measure.

“Ask the Makeni police, they know how disciplined and uncompromising I am; there was a case of a poor teacher whose arrested motorbike got lost in police custody and he reported the matter to me. I gave the Local Unit Commander 24 hours to either buy the missing motorbike or lose his position instantly; he immediately bought the motorbike and I ordered his immediate transfer,” the Resident Minister assured the disgruntled wife.

Parrot has moved Heaven and Earth to get PC Magba Koroma to respond to the catalogue of allegations of his dear wife. The bird is calling on the PC to please spare part of his busy time to give his own side of the story.
