ACC case law report launched
Reliable reports reaching this media has revealed that The Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone has on Tuesday August 26th this year launched the ACC Case Law Report and that the document was officially launched by the Acting Chief Justice, Nicolas Brown Mark.
According to sources, the ceremony was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development in Freetown.
During his presentation, the Commissioner, Anti Corruption Commission and Chairman of the occasion, Joseph Fitzerald Kamara revealed that the global community he notes is with the view that Sierra Leone is a notorious corrupt state.
“I denounce any statement made by any person or persons accusing the Sierra Leonean state of been corrupt. I will argue it out that my country is not notorious in corruption, the anti-corruption boss states.”
Joseph Fitzerald Kamara said that the propensity for institutions, individuals, Government officials been suspected of corruption, brought to book and judged is a legal practice in every existing state that works on maintaining the rule of law adding that Sierra Leone among other countries is proud of minimal rate of corrupt practices far better than many countries around the world.
The anti-corruption boss described the fight against corruption as a practice that addresses the interest of our people especially the children that are expected to be geared positively.
Fitzerald Kamara in a marvelously disclosed that records within the commission proves that the effort of the anti-corruption commission in Sierra Leone is commendable to the local and international community.
In consent of the programme, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Franklyn Bai Kargbo congratulates Joseph Fitzerald Kamara for his well reserve renewal of tenure of office and his outstanding leadership provided in the dispensation of his duty.
The Minister of Justice disclosed that the Case Law Report is among the many priorities to help shape the ACC jurisprudence and criminal law in general and a pointer to the revival of our Sierra Leone law report. It will also serve as a source of material for research and professional work, he furthered.
Hon. Franklyn Bai Kargbo said that the ant-corruption commission is noted as an outstanding pillar in governance architecture and that the incumbent government will continue to give its support to the ACC to ensure corruption in Sierra Leone is minimize to its lowest grade.
