Teacher sacked for impregnating school pupil has salary used to compensate her

This medium has been authoritatively informed that one of the teachers at the Evangelical Mission Secondary school in Morchail village, Ribbi Chiefdom, Moyamba District, Abdulai Bendu, has been ordered by the school administration to compensate a thirteen-year-old pupil he impregnated.

This was made public yesterday at the mission’s headquarter office at Congo Water in Freetown when the Education Secretary, James Mansaray was responding to the grave allegation against the mission.

According to Mr. Mansaray, the school management has summarily dismissed the teacher and forcefully used his two- month salary to compensate the pregnant pupil. The Education Secretary further informed that the sacked teacher has already married the pregnant pupil with the consent of her parents.

He described the teacher’s unprofessional conduct as a flagrant violation of the Education Act for which the teacher deserves the punishment, expressing frustration over the sad fact that residents of the village including the parents of the impregnated school pupil were pleading for the teacher.

The Education Secretary vowed that the mission will never tolerate such unprofessional conduct from any teacher. “Any of our teachers who goes to the unprofessional extent of impregnating a school pupil will definitely be dismissed instantly.
