Amb Golley receives VP Kyoo-Hyung Shim of Hansol Group Of Korea at Sierra Leone Mission In Seoul
2015.7.30 – Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Ambassador Omrie Golley, today Thursday July 30, 2015 received the Vice President of Hansol EME Company Mr Koo-Hyung Shim, who called upon him at the Sierra Leone Mission in Seoul, South Korea to ascertain investment opportunities in the country in the aftermath of the Ebola outbreak, particularly in the construction industry. Hansol EME Limited is a subsidiary of the Hansol Group of Companies, a large Conglomerate or ‘chaebol’ of South Korea. Founded in 1965 and formerly part of the Samsung Group of Companies, Hansol Group’s main operations cover construction, electronics, chemicals, tourism and household interiors.
Welcoming the delegation to the Mission in Seoul, His Excellency Ambassador Golley informed Vice President Shim of the Sierra Leone Government’s post Ebola recovery efforts and plans to re energise the national economy, prioritising health, education and the private sector as the main focus areas of the recovery efforts. He also dilated on the investment potential of Sierra Leone in the areas of agricultures, tourism, and marine resources.
Vice President Shim informed the Ambassador that the Group was looking at a number of proposals for possible investment particularly in the construction industry, and further indicated that he was thinking of leading a Delegation into Sierra Leone in August 2015 to explore avenues for collaboration and investment, seeking local partners in the country.
In conclusion His Excellency Ambassador Golley informed the Group that they were most welcome to visit Sierra Leone and that the Mission was at their disposal to assist them in concreting their plans to visit and undertake investments in the country.
The meeting was attended by the Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery at the Mission Mr. James Sawi and Second Secretary Mr. Steven Levey.
