Goderich Road – Still a sham
Claims that the Goderich/Tombo road is to be constructed into a modern highway within international standards has been revealed to be lies as there are no plans to tar the road, Sierra Express Media has been informed.
The expectations that the Goderich Tombo Road will be a modern tarred road has been dashed as residents, along the badly constructed dusty dirt road, watch as a half hearted work goes on by labourers using basic implements including machetes and hoes.
The Goderich/Tombo highway which had been under construction since 2008 is yet to be completed though a lot of promise had earlier been made by the engineers and contractors that the work will be completed within a short period.
Kawusu Kamara, a foreman told this press that they are only working on maintenance and that this does not include tarring or making any drainage. No time has been provided when proper work will commence.
Delay over the conclusion of the work has been blamed on the inability of CSE, the Senegalese owned construction company to provide the required machines to carry out the work.
The CSE has also been slow in repairing the bridges and expanding their width to correspond with the new road.
CSE has also been blamed over their lack of trained engineers, and that mediocre workers are sent to perform jobs meant for trained personnel.
Second in command of the site Mr. Mohamed Sow also said they are seriously constrained as a result of lack of personnel and machines.
