Our movement at the party was restricted says witness in LA Chocolate Murder Trial

As Magistrate Court no.1 continues to preliminarily probe Baimba Moiforay aka LA Chocolate and co for the alleged murder of Sydney David Buckle aka DJ Clef, Prosecution Witness 4 (PW4)  identified as Abigail Samura, testified in court that their movement was restricted at the party during which DJ Clef was allegedly murdered.  (Photo: The deceased, Sydney David Buckle aka DJ Clef)

The witness gave the testimony, July 30th, before presiding magistrate, Mohamed Salieu Serray-Wurie, while  being cross examined by  Ishmael Philip Mammie (one of the lawyers representing the second accused person, Avril Oredola Renner).

Further, under cross examination by lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma representing the first accused L A Chocolate, PW4 said when they started serving pepper soup at the party LA Chocolate was not present throughout, but admitted that the deceased Sydney Henry David Buckle aka DJ Clef was present.

PW4 said she recognized both accused persons and recalled on May 20th 2015 when Avril Oredola Renner (the second accused) informed her through WhatsApp that she was to hold her birthday party on the 22nd May 2015.

Miss Samura added that on the next day Renner and other people went to LA Chocolate’s house at Aberdeen and that after a while, one Sonita and herself also left for the same venue.

She stated that while preparing food at the house, Renner came and asked Oseh (who is another of the witnesses in this matter), about her boss LA Chocolate.

The witness continued that while they were preparing the food, the LA Chocolate and Renner went out and then came back later; and that the party commenced at 10pm.  She continued that at the party, she saw one Claudius and the DJ Clef interacting and it was at that point that the Renner told all of them to swim in the swimming pool.  “We started swimming but the deceased was not among us,” she testified, adding that after the swimming, LA Chocolate asked them not to enter the parlor as they were soaked but that they later went to the parlor and started dancing during which time they started serving the pepper soup at about 2 am when Renner asked them again to go for another round of swimming after which Renner asked her to use her phone to snap her and DJ Clef.

“I heard Idriss (another witness in the matter) shouting  DJ Clef to come to the swimming pool but the DJ Clef did not respond,” she stated, continuing that later, one of her sisters called Delma informed her that somebody had disappeared at the party and that Renner and others were making statements at the police.

PW4 further stated that her sister advised her to go into hiding and that since then she has never set eyes on that sister.

Early in the morning the next day, she said she saw Renner and policemen at her place where she was also arrested and taken to CID headquarters in Freetown.

LA Chocolate and Renner were represented by lawyers Oladipo Robin Mason Jr and Snr, while the first accused was also represented by lawyer E T Koroma and the second accused was also represented by lawyer Ishmael Philip Mammie.

The Director of Public Prosecution, lawyer Sulaiman A. Bah, is prosecuting the matter for the State.

The matter was adjourned to the 6th August this year.
