The Dilemma of President Koroma
In African Societies, politics is believed to be a dirty game that decent people should stay away from. It is also believed by others that politics, for the sake of making money, is a thing for the mediocre minds as they lack the talent and wisdom to know that apart from the grace of the Almighty, all else is vanity, which becomes part and parcel of a dreadful past. The demise of politicians in the past should be enough lessons for those of today to tread cautiously while they carry the mantle of power in the country. (Photo: President Ernest Bai Koroma)
Sierra Leone is a blessed country, dedicated to the Almighty by Governor Clarkson. Therefore, from empirical knowledge, all those who, in the past, abused this land succumbed to the fate and dictates of Clarkson’s prayer. The examples abound in the annals of the history of this nation.
The dilemma of President Koroma, therefore, lies in his apparent ability to use the tool he has at his disposal to correct the deliberate mistakes of his team. Most westerners spoken to believe that President Koroma is blinded by the display of flatulence of the ill-gotten wealth of his Diaspora team that failed to make it offshore and are now bent on making it here at all cost- a misplaced confidence that he now finds hard to correct. But President Koroma, the Diaspora sickness, like the Ebola, should be expunged from your Government, as a saving grace for this nation. Your dilemma is ours; it is a dilemma of a nation. Mandela did not use a Diaspora syndrome to rule that great nation of his.
Over 60% of Sierra Leoneans live in rural communities and 80% of them are poor farmers whose only wish is to timely deliver their planting materials, not caring the rest of what obtains but even so, deceit as a dominant factor, remains the trend.
So Mr. President, you were, before entering politics, a man of honour and integrity . Now be your oldself and strike the iron while it is hot. RESHUFFLE your CABINET NOW! The nation yearns for this. This was the greatest tool used by Siaka Stevens to control all wayward ministers; you are too decent to be misguided by the display of mediocrity and caricature in your regime. The press, that voice and eye of the people, will support you sir.
