Big Flooding at GOAL Ebola Treatment Center Patients Evacuated.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Ebola Response Centre, Retired Major Paolo Conteh, has informed the media that the recent flooding at the GOAL Ebola Treatment Centre in Port Loko has compelled them to evacuate the Ebola patients to nearby Lunsar Ebola Treatment Center(ETC).

Paolo Conteh made the disclosure yesterday, July 22nd, at the new NERC Headquarter at Cockeril in Freetown during the weekly NERC press briefing.

The CEO was happy to report that the GOAL ETC is now back to its previous capability and the situation caused by the rain was managed well.

“There is no doubt that we as a nation now have the necessary facilities in place to deal with the numbers of suspected cases the raining season will bring and any new hike in confirmed cases,” the CEO maintained, adding that the war against the EVD in Sierra Leone is now being fought on three fronts in the North, with Port Loko and Kambia making good progress through Operation Northern Push.

He pointed out that constantly zero-Ebola districts are searching for any unknown case and Western Area is working hard to cope with quarantined homes in difficult circumstances. He continued that to win this war they must score successes on all fronts.

He emphasized on the new case from Patton Street last weekend which, he said was a grave concern as the origin of the transmission is not yet known.
