After Testifying Against His People Dethroned Headman Exiles Himself

Latest report reaching this medium indicates that the dethroned Headman of Worreh Makankry village in the Makarie Gbantie Chiefdom, Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone, Osman Dawoh, has gone into self-exile, fleeing the wrath of the community people who have reportedly vowed to assassinate him for grudgingly testifying against them in a protracted and heated land dispute between the community people and one Issa Kalokoh.

According to the community people, they had cause to topple the Headman because throughout his twenty-two years tenure, he never brought any meaningful development to the community and always acted contrary to the wishes of the people. “His dethronement is the possible reason why he decided to testify against us in a case involving a piece of land which he very well knows belongs to us,” the community people stated.

In an interview, the self-exiled dethroned Headman said he stands by his testimony in court that the disputed land does not belong to the people of Worreh Makankry Village, but to Issa Kalokoh. Asked why he decided to exile himself to Ropunthue, Dawoh noted that he feared his life was in jeopardy.

Contacted, the Local Court Chairman, Ibrahim Sesay, who consequently ruled against the Worreh community told SEM that he gave his ruling in line with the testimony of Dawoh and many others and that his ruling was justifiable and in concordance with the laws of the land.
