Instead of Kenema Government Hospital CMO calls on MSF to support PHUs

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brima Kargbo, has called on the medical charity organization, Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF) to support Peripheral Health Units (PHUs) in Kenema, instead of the Kenema Government Hospital.

The Chief Medical Officer’s call comes in the wake of widespread rumors that government has plans to sub-contract to the MSF the management of the Kenema Government Hospital.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), government has no intention to sub-contract the management of the hospital as it has been listed as an affiliated teaching institution for its operations are key priorities to MOHS.

Meanwhile, MOHS has registered its willingness to work with institutions to complement its efforts in building a resilient health system in the country.
