Armed Robbers Invade Kabala – 7 in Police Net
Police officers in Kabala Town, Koinadugu District, Northern Sierra Leone, are reported to have arrested and detained seven suspected armed robbers who reportedly raided the town on Sunday, 30th June this year, broke into and looted many shops.
The ugly incident was confirmed to this press by the Local Unit Commander of the Kabala police division, Supt. Alimamy Bangura.
According to Supt. Bangura, the seven arrested suspected armed robbers are Ibrahim Rogers, Gibrilla Sesay, Abu Bakkarr Kamara, Baimba Nabieu, Messie Jalloh, Alex Conteh and White Boy all of whom are now helping the police in their investigation.
Supt. Bangura informed that one of the suspected armed robbers, name unidentified, escaped narrowly but that they are hunting him vigorously while all the police personnel in the town have been put on red alert for any eventuality.
The police commander further revealed that the robbers broke into the Mark Pharmacy in central Kabala and carted away a huge amount of United States Dollars and electronic items worth millions of Leones, adding that the daring robbers also bulldozed their way into the Umar Charging centre and stole many valuable mobile phones.
He said they found in the possession of the robbers crow bars, scissors and other dangerous weapons, noting that the police got a tip off when the robbers quarreled over the sharing of the US Dollars they stole from the Mark Pharmacy.
Supt. Banngura further explained that two of the suspects, Messie Jalloh and Alex Conteh were arrested with a Mercedes Benz car with which they came to rescue the robbers after Messie was called from Bo by another suspect, Gibrilla Sesay, to come to their rescue when they realized they had run out of luck. Messie is said to have hired the driver of the Benz car, Alex Conteh, to come on the rescue mission while Gibrilla had spent days in Kabala Town on espionage activities before they struck.
The brazen acts of the invading robbers reportedly terrorized Kabala and its environs and the seriousness of the situation prompted the intervention of the Assistant Inspector-General, AIG Western Area, Supt. Kailie.
