I will take SLPP to State House says Ambassador Wurie

Ambassador Umaru Bond Wurie has told the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) supporters in Bristol UK that he is the right man to out seat the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) from power and usher in the SLPP party back to power after the general elections 2017 as the party has been out of power for about a decade now, Noting that he is going to take the right approach in convincing the party delegates to vote him in for the party flagbrearership.

Speaking at a well attended meeting with delegates and party stakeholders in UK on the weekend, the veteran Politician pointed that he has the party at heart and is not happy with the impasse that is ongoing in the party this he said his first task after winning the flagbrearership he is going to organized a national reconciliation forum that will allow all to voiced   out their bitterness and embrace peace for the betterment of the party I have been SLPP all my live and I believe this is the right time for me to attend to the voice of the youths who are desperately in need of a change.

According to the northern born elite his decision to go in for the flagbrearership came under intense pressure from party delegates and stakeholders who said they believe he is the only man that can bring the party back to power in respect of all it huddles.

Speaking to this medium Assistant Campaign Director Chernor Bah Fondly called Cee Bah said Ambassador Wurie been a patriot of the party and is aiming to bridge the gap that is in the party, noting that he has met with the party Stakeholders all over Europe and they have given him their blessing to join the race between Julius Maada Bio and United Nations developmentalist Kandeh Yumkellah.

Bah also pointed out that ambassador Wurie been a paid up member of the party has slam cross section of the party supporters on several occasion that the party does not belongs to a certain tribe or region I want to tell you all that he does not have a region, or special tribe but he is going to work in the interest of all sierra Leonean and put the country above all.

According to him Ambassador Wurie will be in town this weekend and is expected to meet with the party elites and young generation before making familiarization tour to the provincial executives Stressing that his familiarization tour is not for him to declare but rather meet with the delegates and citizenry to map out the way for a positive change for the country and party as a whole..

Ambassador Umaru Bond Wurie does not need any formal introduction. He is a household name, both at home and abroad.

Ambassador Wurie started his diplomatic career in June 1989 when he served as Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria with multiple accreditations as High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Togo, Benin, Cameroon and Equitorial Guinea.

In November 1996, Ambassador Wurie was appointed as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany with multi accreditation to Australia, Italy and Switzerland.

Ambassador Wurie served as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to India and Pakistan.

In the year 2000, Ambassador Wurie served as Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq. He was also Deputy Head of Mission for the UN Office of the Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq. Ambassador Wurie has had an illustrious diplomatic career, both at national and international levels.

In September 2004, Ambassador Wurie returned home to assume the pivotal role of Director General and Ambassador-At-Large in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

He has served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and Development Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

In 2006, Ambassador Wurie served as Chairman/President of the Port Loko Teachers’ College Council and in 2013 was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of one of the most successful local banks in Sierra Leone, UTB (Union Trust Bank).

As can be seen from the above, Ambassador Wurie enjoys both local and international exposure. He cuts across Party, tribal and regional lines.

Ambassador Wurie hails from the Port Loko district and he is one of the key stakeholders in the district.
