Suma, Zagalo, Simbo to miss Sudan Clash
Sierra Leone will start their 2017 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan without three of their star players Central defender David Simbo, Midfielder Alfred Sankoh and Right back Sheriff Suma (in photo) all whom is expected to miss the opener, Simbo will miss the opener due to suspension from Leone Stars Last AFCON qualifiers against Ivory Coast.
The Al Hilal man pick up two yellow cards consecutively in Leone Stars Last qualifiers against Cameroun and Ivory Coast respectively leaving the versatile defender with no option but to undergo the punishment that govern the tournament.
Alfred Sankoh who has just finished his league last Thursday is expected to travel to Germany for medical checkup, Noting that it has been a week that he has not been in training but do assure he will be fit for the second match as by then he would been fit and known his status said the Khazar Lankaran Midfielder.
Sheriff Suma Confirmed that he has not received any invitation from the FA yet and is aware that other players have got theirs week ago, if they sent it now I will make it but any later I won’t be able to travel to Sudan on time.
According to the Head of Competitions of the FA Sorie Ibrahim Sesay said some players have receive their invitation whiles others have not yet but we are trying to reach all invited players for the match as soon as possible. He further noted that the FA is trying to lace with the technical director John Jebbor Sherrington so they can get a formidable team for the match.
Leone Stars will start their campaign in July in Khartoum as they will face Sudan on the weekend of 12, 13, 14 July 2015, Whiles Ivory Coast will host the AFCON host Gabon in Abidjan the same weekend, Making it a must win match for Leone Stars if they are serious to qualify as it is one team will/must qualify in that group along the host who has automatically qualify for the tournament.
It is very unfortunate for me to miss this match as it a very big match for me as most of my club teammates are in the national team and it would have been a great joy for me also to play at our club stadium with my national team Simbo said.
I know we have a formidable team were other players can fill my position but I would have loved to play in the Omdurman stadium with Leone Stars he stressed.
