Africell applauded for compliance
Sierra Leone’s greatest mobile communications service company, Africell Limited has been commended for taking a giant step in switching from unit to Leones. To so many subscribers, this did not come as a surprise but a continuation of the company’s commitment in the provision of affordable, reliable and quality communication to its over two million subscribers. The switch came at a time when Sierra Leoneans have been yearning for such a greater opportunity in communication. (Photo: Africell and Key partners…working together)
Tommy Terry Coker is the company’s Head of Media Print told this writer that the company has always gotten its numerous subscribers at heart and promised that the company will not relent in providing value added services to its customers. Unlike other companies that have sky rocketed their tariff under the Leone billing, Terry Coker happily said “Africell is a company with a great difference as the current switch is done in accordance with the unit billing. We are a company that comply to laws and we would never exploit our customers to maximize profit,” he said.
Joe Abass Bangura is Africell’s Corporate Affairs Officer informed journalists at a press conference recently that the company has over the past years enjoyed a great working relationship with its partners in the sector both in the Information and Communication Ministry and National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM).
“As we look forward to a post Ebola Sierra Leone, Africell expects to take the lead in being a model of exemplary corporate citizenship in Sierra Leone. We will continue to play our role in the fight to get to zero new Ebola infections in the country and make Ebola history,” he assured.
The newly appointed NATCOM Chairman, Momoh K. Konte expressed his delight in the fact that Africell did not resist talking to NATCOM to switch over to Leone. He assured of continuous collaboration for the benefit of the public.
The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, Theo Nicol is confident that Africell will deliver more goodies under the Leone billing system. “I believe that those using the Africell network would have to benefit greatly,” he said, and added that the Ministry will continue to provide the enabling environment for companies like Africell to bring development in the communications sector.
