Penny Appeal donates Le42 Million worth of food items to Ebola survivors

Penny Appeal, a humanitarian organization in collaboration with the Jamil Jalil Temne Central Mosque has donated 42 million Leones worth of food items to 41 Ebola survivors at the Hasting Treatment Center in the Western area.

The gesture includes bags of rice, Palm oil, assorted tin foods and other nutritious food items.

Presenting the items, the Coordinator of the Jamil Jalil Mosque, Jibril Sesay disclosed that the items donated are among 65 sets of 100 discharge packages for Ebola survivors.

He said Penny Appeal is a UK based organization and made the donation through the help of the Ansa Sweden development organization in the Gambia.

He revealed that plans are currently under way to construct schools for Ebola child orphans across the country and reiterated the organization’s commitment to continue its support to Ebola Survivors.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the survivors, the Deputy Minister 11 of Health and Sanitation Madam Madina Rahman expressed gratitude for the donation and encouraged the organization to work together as a team in the fight against the disease.

She reaffirmed government’s continued strides to contain the outbreak, and encouraged Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora to join the fight, citing the cooperation of the Penny Appeal- Jamil Jalil joint effort and other local organizations in complimenting the efforts of government.
