SLADEA ends workshops on Ebola

As the fight to put to an end to the prevailing Ebola virus has become a concern to every Sierra Leonean and even other foreign nationals, a home base learning organization called the Sierra Leone Adult Education Association (SLADEA) on Monday 8th September 2014 ended Training of Trainers workshops for members of the organization in Freetown and Waterloo.

The training which was held at the YWCA Hall, Brookfield, Freetown attracted members of the organization from Waterloo and Freetown branches, representative of UNICEF, representative of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, UNDP, SLCP, the media and the general public.

Welcoming participants, the Chairman SLADEA Western Area Mr. Lahai E. Bockarie described the training as very important and timely in the fight against Ebola especially for members of the organization and continued that until we come together as a nation or else it will not be easy for us to win the fight against the dreadful Ebola virus. He emphasized on how government and individuals are trying to contain the virus and he showered praise on WHO and UNICEF and other developmental partners whom he said are the cronies that are assisting us as a nation in the fight to overcome our enemy. The Chairman endorsed the three days country lock down as a means of sensitizing families to take adequate preventive measures and get rid of the ailment.

The Acting Executive Secretary, SLADEA, Bamikeh Williams urged participants to tie bargain and fight what he called common enemy that came to hinder our developmental activities and reduce our human population.

He dilated that his organization has branches all over the country were similar training has been organized including the north in Mile 91, South in Bo, Kenema in the east, Kabala in the north and now Waterloo and Freetown adding that they are targeting youth groups, market women and other vulnerable groups and admonished participants to get all those that are denying about the existence of the killer disease in our side to get them believe.

Representing Councilor in ward 386 Anna King described Ebola as a bad disease that can impede a country’s development and advised all to take adequate preventive measures and put the menace a thing of the past.
