AIDS Health Care Founder joins the fight against Ebola outbreak
Freetown, Aug. 28, 014 (MOHS) – AIDS Health Care Foundation (AHF) has donated Personal Protective Equipment and 200 buckets to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation as part of their contribution to help contain the Ebola virus disease outbreak in the country.
Making the donation, the Country Programme Manager, Miatta Jambawai said the gesture came as a result of the response to the call of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the government to provide support to the outbreak.
She disclosed plans to donate drums of chlorine, and pledged $10,000 to the Ministry as additional support in the fight against the disease.
Madam Jambawai also disclosed support given to the bereaved family of the Late Virologist, Dr. Sheik Humarr Khan, and incentives to HIV Support Group Contact tracers.
Receiving the donation, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brima Kargbo on behalf of the Ministry and government thanked the organization for the gesture describing it as very important in the fight to contain the outbreak.
He said the distribution would be done promptly, and assured the donor that the items would be utilized for the intended purpose.
Dr. Kargbo also thanked AHF for the financial support pledged to the outbreak describing it as an invaluable treasure in the fight against the disease.
