Afcon group stage Sierra Leone joins Ivory Coast, DR Congo and Cameroon in Group D
In a letter dated Thursday, 31 July 2014, Sierra Express Media Sports UK was officially informed by Football Federation Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) that the Seychelles nation has officially withdrawn from the Orange African Cup of Nations – Morocco 2015.
Seychelles were scheduled to face Sierra Leone this weekend in the second leg of the second round of the qualifying rounds. Sierra Leone won the first leg 2-0 in Freetown two weeks ago.
Following this decision, Sierra Leone joins Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon and DR Congo in Group D of the next phase of the qualifying rounds.
The Organizing Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations will examine the case of the withdrawal of Seychelles, which came at a time that Sierra Leone had started the journey for the return leg, originally scheduled for Saturday, 2 August 2014.
