Relocate Bombali Magistrate Court to Mena Hills
The Bombali Magistrate court which is located between Lunsar Road and Ladys Mile in the heart of Makeni city is not placed in a conducive environment suitable for normal court sitting, the residents persistently condemn. The residents have proffered the relocation of the Magistrate Court from its present location over to the Mena Hills, where many government offices are quietly hosted, including the High court in that part of the country.
City planners have described the northern city as the fastest growing cities in the country. This does not limit at population increment over the years, it also relates to the initial size of the courtroom, when one considers the swelling number of visitors and court attendants on a daily basis. Also strong in consideration is the larger increase in motor bike plus vehicular engine noises and horns which often disturbs decorum during court sitting.
Most importantly, the courtyard seriously stinks because it lacks toilet facilities. Further, by virtue of the limited size of the courtyard, it can no longer accommodate space for the facility for visitors and attendants. And Unbearable is the fact that, the courtroom gets so hot and stinky with high turnouts of attendants during high profile cases.
In these unfortunate situations, court observers and Journalists on coverage, equally suffer the heat, while attending Lawyers and Magistrate unbearably heat up in their coats and suits, not to mention the worse conditions of accused persons, defendants and complainants.
Going to press every effort by phone, to get the side of the sitting Magistrate of the Bombali Judicial district court Alhaji Momojah Stevens proved futile for comment.
