400 motor bikes impounded

The National Traffic Coordinator of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Supt. Ambrose Sovula, has disclosed in an exclusive interview that over 400 motor bikes have been impounded by the police and are presently parked at the Police Training School (PTS) in Hastings for safekeeping.

According to the Supt. Sovula, most of the impounded bikes were arrested for various traffic offences ranging from unlicensed and uninsured motor bikes, riding without a license, using an unauthorized route, failing to abide by police stop signals, and riding without a protective helmet. He added that ever since the motor bikes were impounded the riders and their owners have failed to show up for them to provide the necessary documentation.

The Superintendent maintained that until and unless the riders quit the central business district  the police will not relent in arresting them and charging to court. “I am serving my nation irrespective of tribe, religion, region and party to the best of my ability”, supt. Sovula concluded.
