We are not afraid of Sierra Leone

Caretaker coach of Seychelles Ulric Keke Mathiot has said his side is not afraid of Sierra Leone in any form even when both sides will meet this weekend in Freetown for an AFCON 2015 Qualifiers first leg encounter, noting that pundits have already written Sierra Leone to go through on paper due to the Pirates records in African football competitions but I will surely surprise many, he told Africanfootball.com. The local base tactician who took over from Dutchman Jan Mak a few months ago, said Sierra Leone is a strong and solid team and have watched them twice against South Africa, they are strong and very difficult to play against but I will make a difference, that will take Seychelles to the group stage of this competition, we are not only competing but we are coming with a winning game plan.

Keke as he is fondly called, said since he was given the job and the fixture he has been playing so many friendlies against stronger teams within the COSAFA region, just recently we played the Cranes of Uganda and I was happy with the score line and my boys performance as this has shown we are improving gradually towards this game in Freetown.

Mathiot who has already named his 20 man squad that will travel to Sierra Leone but did not include two of the country veterans’ professionals Kevin Besty 36 who play for English League II side Woking FC, and Defender Allen Laure 33 who plays for Harbor View FC in Jamaica but made the trip with his home base players.

Keke also noted that Seychelles biggest  win ever in the country history came on the 27th August 1979 in a 9-0 win over Maldives and their biggest defeat came against Madagascar in 1990 when Seychelles lost 6-0 in an AFCON Qualifier but this time he is ready to make a new history against Sierra Leone.
