The Chairman made this statement while addressing stakeholders of the Kambia District Council on various sectors relating to the development of the district

The chairman noted that as a committee in parliament they are on the ground to see the operations and challenges faced by the councils in their expanded duties.

On the issues of strengthening councils, the chairman noted that for any challenges faced by the councils the committee will cause authorities concerned to take action

The Chief Administrator of the Kambia District Council, Alhaji Benjamin Koroma briefed the committee on the operations of councils and it challenges and informed the committee that council does not collect local tax or market dues as vital revenue source but that of the Chiefdom Council.

The CA also told the committee that their key challenge presently is in the area of collection of water rate within the Kambia township.

However, during their deliberation the committee discovered that there are some unfinished projects since 2013 which have been paid for including the vehicle which was procured for the district medical officer for the cost of about 46 million leones which the committee said  was not worth that price.

Chairman, Hon. Claude Kamanda described it as misappropriation of government funds and that his committee will take necessary action if anyone was found wanting.
