Welcoming the Appointees
It has pleased the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, to appoint Ambassador Henry Macauley, as Minister of Energy, Dr. Momodu Kargbo as Bank Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Stevens as Deputy Bank Governor, Major Ishmail Koroma as Deputy Minister of Energy 1 and Hassan Barrie as Deputy Energy Minister 2 and Saidu Conton as Chief of Staff.
We welcome the new appointees to the new positions from which their predecessors were sacked for corrupt practices and we hope, after their approval by parliament, they will not repeat history by woefully disappointing their predecessors as their predecessors did.
The new appointees must not be oblivious of the wide-open eyes of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) which will not hesitate to lodge them behind bars if they end up misbehaving like their predecessors. The new appointees need not be reminded that they are coming to serve the people, not their deep pockets.
The appointed Bank Governor, especially, if ratified, will inherit the gigantic task of reducing the high inflation and other chronic and biting economic problems plaguing this nation. The new Energy Minister will also inherit the epileptic power supply legated to him by his sacked predecessor. The new Deputy Energy Minister 1&2 will have the herculean task of battling the endless blackouts that keep tormenting us and destroying our electrical appliances.
What about the other vacant ministerial positions? When will President our new Minister of Works and our new Deputy Minister of Education? We are impatiently awaiting the filling of the remaining vacant positions while we keep wondering why the delayed appointments keep coming in segments.
