Transport problem strands Jimmi School
Pupils and teachers of the Jimmi Government Secondary School in Bagbo Chiefdom, Bo District, are reported to be stranded by lack of transportation, a situation that is inflicting heavy financial burden on the administration.
Principal of the school, Mr. Kamara made known their plight to this writer during an exclusive interview in his office.
Mr. Kamara explained that the school administration expends huge for the hire of bus services for the pupils to travel to Bo to participate in sporting and other activities.
“What is more serious and dangerous is that when a pupil or teacher falls sick, it takes a whole lot of time and constraints to get a vehicle to take the ill pupil or teacher to the Bo Hospital as there is an acute shortage of vehicles and poor health facility in Jimmi,” the principal further explained, adding that they often resort to hiring commercial motorbikes, OKADAs to convey sick pupils and teachers to the Bo Hospital.
The principal called on government and the help the school with a bus to solve the problem.
