For gross injustice amputated accident victim threatens suicide

A 19 year old amputated accident victim, Isatu M. Kamara, has threatened to commit suicide if the Sierra Lone government does not ensure that justice prevails in her case.  The victim made this threat in an interview with this press. According to her, she was hit by a bus with registration number AIG 665 on October 30th, 2013 in Freetown, an accident which cost her leg. She was attending the SLMB secondary school in Makeni.

Reports states that both the driver and owner of the bus a Patrick Mansaray never made effort to take care of the injured and languishing school girl and the driver who caused the accident was reportedly fined in court a pittance sum of Le700, 000 and later released while no provision was made for compensation of the injured victim and her relatives describe fragrant injustice.

Such blatant exhibition of injustice is said to have frustrated the victim to the point of contemplating to commit suicide.

One of the victim’s relatives, Mr. Abdul Karim-Koroma has said that he has spent an estimated sum of Le 12 million to take care of his wounded relative.

He is therefore calling human rights organizations and the government of Sierra Leone to ensure that his relative gets justice.
