Another Mr. Memunatu rises up
AIG Memunatu Conteh who has excellently curtailed lawlessness reducing the crime rate drastically in the east end of Freetown is presently emulated by many other police personnel of the force. Her firmness in challenging lawlessness has earned her several names including Memunatu police, Memuna Ebola and Mr. Memunatu.
A superintendent of police, Supt. Daniel A. Bongroh, assisting the AIG Freetown west, AIG Kambeh has recently risen up strongly in the discharge of his duties and has declared a Freetown west special operation against lawlessness in the west of Freetown.
In an exclusive interview with Supt. Bongroh, he said he has declared an all out operation against lawlessness in his area of operation which starts from PZ to Goderich in the far west of town. He said the operation targets street trading, “baffas” and make shifts at the right of way, ghettos and other illegal business ventures like using the street as a garage and areas which serve as a breeding ground for criminals and their cohorts.
Supt. Bongroh confirmed to Sierra Express Media of destroying ghettos and illegal structures along the Regent /IMAT axis arresting 27 people for various crimes on the 16th June this year. Supt. Bongroh continued that the operation is in force in other areas like Wilkinson road, Regent road Lumley and Aberdeen where the rights of way were cleared and arrests were also made for indecent dress and suspects have already been charged to court.
He vowed that with the support of his bosses he will use the hundred men assigned to him for the operation to create an atmosphere of peace, tranquility and a crime free west of Freetown.
