Singing sensation, Nicholas takes Accra by storm

Launching his music career internationally, the newest African phenomenon in the world of entertainment, Nicolas Buigar has just completed a week long tour (March 14-21) to the West African state of Ghana where top personalities in the entertainment world have billed him to be the next big thing to come out of Africa, musically. Apart from several radio interviews that Nicolas did on very popular radio stations like Joy, Vibe and City FM respectively, he also sat down for exclusive interviews with Graphic ShowBiz newspaper and Filla Magazine respectively in which he highlighted what he has been doing since he returned from Nigeria, the reason for visiting Ghana and when he plans to release his debut album.

During his several radio appearances, the 19 year old Liberian born artiste who started signing at the age of 5 and also, a Music Director in his church played exclusively for the very first time the then yet to be completed and re-mastered single, WORDS which received positive reviews from top DJs and radio listeners who sent texts messages expressing doubts whether or not it was an African from Liberia singing and even requesting to know when will the album be released.

Some callers on other radio stations compared him to American born superstars, Neyo and Chris Brown.

His first major outing in the Ghanaian capital, Accra was his performance as Guest Artiste on a widely watched TV 3  produced signing competition, Mentor Season 5 where he blew out viewers and studio audience with another rendition of the song that propelled him  to the Grand finale  of MTN Project Fame, On Angels Wings . Hosted by one of Ghana’s popular TV Presenters, Iso Pailey, Nicolas was given the opportunity to also talk about the reason for the trip to Ghana and afterwards, made to do an acapella version of All the Way, a song also in his upcoming debut album.

He was also a Guest of Honor at the launch of the debut album of one of Ghana’s most explosive female groups, G-Girls where he also thrilled fans with Luther Vandros’, Dance with my Father and James Ingrams’, Just Once.

 The young artiste’s busy schedule included meeting with Ghana’s winner of another national signing competition, Star of the Future Season 1, Irene Logan who was so much in love with Nicolas’ voice that she willingly avail herself to do collaboration with him that was immediately done at the Title Track Studio. Irene, who is currently Ghana’s leading female vocalist, and a former winner of several music awards in her own right.

During his brief visit Nicholas also found time to perform at the well known BUSSTOP, and in another engagement, Nicolas had audience with popular Ghanaian and internationally acclaimed godfather of Hip-life, Reggie Rockstone who admonished the budding artiste to work tirelessly in order to reach the top and to be of good character.

Climaxing the week long tour was the shooting of the video for his single, WORDS and a visit to the Buduburum refugee camp in the outskirts of Accra where he accompanied UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador, Irene Logan at a women’s forum as part of activities marking the International Day of Women. Singing for close to 500 persons, Nicolas also used the occasion to thank the thousands of camp residents who set up a fan club for him and voted, sometimes using their last pennies while he was participating at Project Fame in Nigeria, “I want to thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for the selfless sacrifices you made voting for me week in and week out and for that, I promise I will continue to make my country and indeed, Africa proud.” Nicolas said amid emotional tears of joy.  

The singing sensation also entered into talks for design of clothing by Ghana’s foremost fashion designer, Kofi Ansah, well known for his shows in London, Paris, Abuja, and Accra, and for clothing the many of Ghana’s elite including former Presidents Rawlings and Kuffour

Nicolas has since returned to Liberia where he plans to release the audio and video single in the shortest possible time before he travels to Nigeria to do a collaboration with Faze and  also, promote the Single and upcoming album.
