ACC signs MOU with Egyptian counterpart
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone and the Administrative Control Agency (ACA) of The Arab Republic of Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster mutual cooperation in the field of fighting corruption. The MOU was signed after a week long visit by the Commissioner of the ACC, Mr. Abdul Tejan-Cole, ACC Advisory Board member, Sheikh Abubakarr Conteh and a member of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy Unit of the ACC, Mr. Ibrahim Kargbo.
In the MOU, the parties expressed their concern about the gravity of problems caused by corruption which threatens the stability of the societies and its security and destroys the noble values of democracy and endangers social, economical and political development.
The MOU which was signed by the Commissioner of the ACC on behalf of the Sierra Leone Anti Corruption Commission and by Mohamed El-Tohamy, Chairman, Administrative Control Authority of The Arab Republic of Egypt on behalf of the ACA provides for mutual cooperation, exchange of information and for the training of the members of the ACC in the sphere of combating corruption. The agreement which will last for five years also provides for exchange visits.
Whilst in Egypt, the ACC delegation visited the headquarters of the ACA and its training center in Cairo as well as its regional office in Alexandria. The delegation discussed with their Egyptian counterparts a number of potential areas of cooperation. The Sierra Leone delegation also visited a number of touristic sites in Cairo , Alexandria and Luxor .
