Zainab Bangura Sings Praises of President Koroma

Zainab Hawa Bangura made this statement on Tuesday evening while delivering a speech as Guest Speaker at a reception at the Sierra Leone High Commission in honour of Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Edward Mohamed Turay, who presented credentials to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 at Buckingham Palace.
“I will never serve any other politician other than President Koroma, he has unique qualities that can hardly be found in any other Sierra Leone,” Bangura said.
The Foreign Minister said if Sierra Leoneans could appreciate President Koroma as much as she does, then they will pray and thank God for having him as their Head of State.
She described President Koroma as a very decent politician – a very shy person who hardly talks but at the same time knows what he wants for his people.
Bangura said the President had sleepless nights thinking of how to improve the lives of the people of Sierra Leone and called on Sierra Leoneans to join hands with the President to build the country.
Bangura said that the President has enormous respect internationally and Sierra Leoneans should be proud to have him as their leader, adding, “I am personally honoured to serve him.”
The Foreign Minister disclosed that by April President Koroma will be receiving an award in Africa and another in May in the United Arab Emirates.
Bangura called on Sierra Leoneans to give support to the High Commissioner adding that it was a difficult decision for the President in making the choice to appoint HE Edward Turay to the United Kingdom.
She said she was particularly honoured and exceptionally delighted to present at the occasion and paid special tribute to the former British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone Peter Penfold for his tremendous contributions towards the development of Sierra Leone.
The Foreign Minister also underscored the United Kingdom sacrifices to Sierra Leone especially during those trying war period.
“The British government has helped us so much using British tax payers monies, the only way we can pay them back is to succeed as a nation and by that they will come to appreciate that the monies they are spending in Sierra Leone are well utilised.”
