Energy Ministry adds value to staff in ICT

In consistent with the introduction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Ministry of Energy (MoE) has ended a two days intensive in-house training on the proper use of computer in general and Microsoft Outlook and official web addresses in particular on Thursday 22nd May 2014.

In the opening courtesy, the Permanent Secretary- Mrs. Zainab Buya-Kamara advised all staff members to take the training serious as it would add value to their services rendered. She continued that knowledge is power and computer operations are unavoidable aspect of the day to day administrations in the world.

Mr. Usman C. Conteh – Deputy Secretary in the Ministry urged staff to be role models in making their images positive, adding that the official ID card, official phones and official email addresses must be used in the office and during official duties. He ended by thanking the HR and ICT Departments for organizing such a laudable in-house training for the Ministry.

The ICT Manager-Mr. Emile Francis and his team (Osman  Khalil and Magdalene Joseph) conducted the training alongside practicals in an impressive manner.  Microsoft Outlook as the first module was for staff members to be able to send short messages to one another on their computers regarding meetings, work schedules, information sharing etc. without moving about at all. The use of the Ministry’s website was the second module which allows staff members to use official email addresses, use the website and direct the public to it.
