Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister Assured in the UAE

Speaking on the telephone line from Abu Dhabi, the official capital of the UAE last night, Siray Timbo says they discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
According to Timbo, Minister Samura praised the UAE for the excellent bilateral relations between the two sister countries. He said Sierra Leone was looking forward to cooperation with the UAE in various investment opportunities and development projects and expressed admiration on the ongoing comprehensive development in the UAE.
In their meeting, the UAE Minister reportedly expressed profound thanks and appreciation for the courtesy call paid by Dr. Samura Kamara and his delegation and assured them of continued support and cooperation between the two sister countries. Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash also expressed the need for broader cooperation between the two countries in other vital sectors in Sierra Leone, including agri-business, fisheries, among others.
In furtherance of concretizing the longstanding bilateral relations, a release circulated by the African Press Organization(APO) on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone last night, other issues were also discussed relating to economic and technical cooperation in the fields of infrastructure developments, like roads, the recently awarded IRENA/ADFD “Solar Park Freetown Project”, water resource management, human resource development and the establishment of a full Sierra Leone diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Samura Kamara and delegation were in Abu Dhabi for a special climate meeting hosted by the United Nations and the UAE from 4-5 May. The two-day meeting at the Abu Dhabi Ascent, an international summit was a high-level climate change meeting attended by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, former US Vice-President, Al Gore, former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, former President of Mexico Felipe Calderón, senior cabinet government ministers from different parts of the world, business and civil society leaders. It was also a preparatory meeting for the climate summit to be held in September 23, 2014 in New York.
All the meetings attended by the Sierra Leone delegation were very successful and beneficial for Sierra Leone, Siray Alpha Timbo concludes.
