Ambassador Omrie Golley presents credentials to South Korean President
His Excellency Ambassador Omrie Michael Golley on Monday 28th April, 2014 presented the Letter of Recall of his predecessor and his Letter of Credence as Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Korea, to Her Excellency President Park Geun-hye President of the Republic of Korea. Both letters, which were graciously received and accepted by Her Excellency the President marks the official start of duty of Ambassador Omrie Michael Golley following his appointment few months ago by His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma.
In his statement during a brief discussion with Her Excellency the President after the Presentation Ceremony, Ambassador Golley conveyed warm personal greetings from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, and through him the Government and people of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
He offered, on behalf of the President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, his deepest condolences to Her Excellency the President of Korea and her Government and people for the Sewol Ferry disaster off the coast of Korea and the resultant great loss of lives of young Korean children.
His Excellency Ambassador Golley registered the pleasure of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and his Government and people in respect of the opening of a new mission in Seoul, adding that this move underscored the great importance that the Government of Sierra Leone was attaching to the strengthening of bilateral relations, particularly in the field of economic development in agriculture, Energy, Health and Education.
He also informed Her Excellency the President of his desire for a summit meeting to be held at the appropriate time between the leaders of the two countries to discuss and solidify increasing bilateral co operation.
In response, Her Excellency President Park extended her warmest personal good wishes to HE Dr Ernest Bai Koroma and registered her Government’s support for the great strides in governance and economic development currently being enjoyed in Sierra Leone through the great efforts of HE President Ernest Bai Koroma and the Government of Sierra Leone. She said that she viewed with pleasure the arrival of the first ever resident ambassador of Sierra Leone and offered her support and that of the Korean Government through increased bilateral co operation and support for GOSL’s economic objectives.
She wished Ambassador Golley a successful and happy tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Republic of Korea.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Golley has also paid a courtesy call to the Dean of African Ambassadors in Seoul, Korea , HE Ambassador Desmond Awakor of Nigeria, which was his first assignment as Ambassador.
