Constituency 33 Holds Parliamentary Bye-Election

Three candidates from the All Peoples Congress APC, Sierra Leone Peoples Party-SLPP and the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change-PMDC are to contest the parliamentary bye elections on Saturday in Constituency Thirty-three in the Bombali District.

According to the Bombali District Elections Officer, Christiana O’rielly, Sulaiman Sesay will contest under the banner of the ruling APC, Lama Bangura under the SLPP and the PMDC being represented by Mohamed Bangura.

The seat of the constituency was declared vacant following the appointment of former Honourable Edward Turay as Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Mrs. O’rielly said the National Electoral Commission had been engaging the aspirants and supporters to ensure a violence free poll. She commended the police and the military under the Military Aid to Civil Power (MAC-P) for their support to the electoral process.

She said all voting material and staff were now pre-positioned for Saturday 20th March polling day.
