Impeachment of Deputy Chairman postponed
Port Loko, April 18 (SLENA) – The General Session of the Port Loko District Council which is scheduled on rotational basis for the first week in every month has been observed in the Marampa Chiefdom with a 95 percent turnout of Council members. April session of council in progress in Marampa
The April 2014 Session which was chaired by Councillor Lamin S Kallokoh of Ward 196 in Koya in the absence of both the substantive Chairman and his Deputy, who were on separate official assignments, saw the active participation of councillors on all issues put forward for deliberations.
The Session zeroed in with a postponement on the issue of the Deputy Chairman of Council, Councillor Ibrahim Santigie Bangura on whom a motion championed by Councillor Zainab Mansaray of Ward 169 is now in progress to have him impeached.
Although the reasons are yet to be properly tabled in Council, Deputy Chairman I S Bangura is said to have a poor working link with the administration of Council, a pattern believed that has the potential to debar development.
But as was outlined by Councillor Seku Tejan Saccoh of Ward 189 , it would be improper to discuss the issue when both the Chairman, Ahmid Munirr Fofanah and Councillor S I Bangura were absent. It was therefore advised that a special Committee be set up to thoroughly look into the issue.
