“For us, Honorable Tarawalie has the requisite skills, competence and character to foster educational development in Sierra Leone and in particularly Port Loko District,’ stated the Chairman of Maforki Youth Organization, Mohamed Sesay.
Mr. Sesay was speaking at a well-attended meeting held recently at the Bai Bureh Memorial Hall during the official welcoming ceremony of the new Member of Parliament for Constituency 49, Hon. Alhaji Chernor Serray Dumbuya. He said having worked with Mr. Tarawallie while he was Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, they hold the strong belief that he will perform to perfection if given the required support by all the stakeholders in the Education Ministry, adding that Honorable Tarawalie, in his private capacity, has been demonstrating selflessness and devotion to deprived and marginalized youth in the district. Mr. Sesay informed the gathering that Honorable Tarawalie has been working tirelessly to secure several victories for the party in his constituency.
Hon. Alhaji Serray Dumbuya thanked the people of Port Loko District, especially those in Constituency 49, for electing him to parliament, assuring them to do all in his power to bring positive development to the constituency.
The MP disclosed moves to fast track the completion of the ongoing projects in the district, especially the installation of over three hundred solar lights in the township, a project which, he said, will start very soon and expected to be completed by the end of April this year.
Hon. Alhaji Dumbuya called on his people to give their fullest cooperation to the Port Loko District Council, central government and President Ernest Bai Koroma in his Agenda for Prosperity.
The chairman of the Port Loko District Council, Mr. Hamid Munir Fofanah, praised President Koroma for appointing sons of the soil to ministerial positions such as Hon. Alhaji Alpha Kanu, Hon. Alhaji Kemoh Sesay and Hon. Mamoud Tarawallie.
Responding, Hon. Mamoud Tarawallie commended the people for their warm hospitality and stressed on the importance of education to both students and parents, calling on them to be committed, hardworking and disciplined.
Honorable Tarawallie noted that the conspicuous absence of two political heavy weights and sons of the soil, Alpha Kanu and Kemoh Sesay, at a very important occasion like that, with no excuse from them, is a clear indication that the two men are not in cordial relationship, calling on the elders and youths to try to broker peace between them.
Other speakers were the Regent Chief of Maforki Chiefdom, Pa Alimamy Kamara and the President of the United Council of Imams in Sierra Leone, Alhaji Y. DD. Kamara who promised to resolve the conflict between Alpha Kanu and Kemoh Sesay.
