Bike Riders Election Result Cautioned

The just concluded Lumley Bike Riders Union election has spark fire among supporters of the losing candidate – Mr. Alusine Kombayah who claimed, the election was not free, fair and transparent.

According to Mr Umaru M Bundu, Treasurer of the loosing contender they have submitted petition letters to various authorities in the country to look in to the issue very promptly.

Mr. Bundu reiterated that one major reason for the petitioning of the election result is because one of the supporters of the wining candidate Madam Nathoma Syllah was the campaign Chairlady of the endearing candidate Mr. Sajor Jalloh who allegedly bridged the constitution of the union by distributing voters Identity cards while voting was in progress. He maintained that even one of the key supporters of Kombayah who also doubles as the Financial Secretary of the said loosing candidates was deprived from voting hence his voters identity card was allegedly stolen by supporters of the winning team.

‘’We will not agree with the result,’’  vowed Mr. Bundu and stated that according to the electoral laws “it is unacceptable to distribute voting materials or identity cards during the election day which the supporters of Sarjoh Jalloh have allegedly done,” he said. He emphasized that the voting was suppose to close at 5:pm but unfortunately, the process was clandestinely stopped at 3:pm leaving other voters disenfranchised which adversely affected the result of the loosing candidate.

Speaking to Mr. Kombayah, he is one of the founding members of Bike Riders Union in Freetown, adding that he has been defeated for two elections, according to him he accepted the first elections result but he has decided not to accept the recent one conducted last week as he noticed some malpractices in the process.

He concluded by calling on authorities to promptly look at the letters sent to them for total peace in community.
