Iran Consulate Bids Farewell

In the Holy Qur’an, Allah gives a detailed account of the behavior, superior morality, and state of mind unique to believers such moral qualities as justice, compassion, modesty, temperance, perseverance, submission to Him, and avoidance of worthless talk .

In Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73 Abu Huraira narrated an Hadith which reads “Allah’s Apostle said, “Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should entertain his guest generously and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet.

Sierra Leoneans from all works of life bade farewell to one of the best Ddiplomats in the country Mr. Ghezla Sofla, outgoing Iran Cultural Chancellor to Sierra Leone at a ceremony held at the Iran Cultural Center at 25 Garrison Street on Tuesday 26th March 2014. A great American writer Mark Twain once said “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”.

In her remarks Dr. Olivia Sesay lecturer at the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone described Mr. Sofla as a man of applicability and practicality, a man who is open to humanity despite one’s religious background, race or color. She cited a Biblical passage in the book of Luke which reads “Be considerate and do not embarrass others – treat others as you would like to be treated, and think of how you can put them at ease. Never demean anyone with rude jokes or an unwelcome nickname”.

Dr. Olivia Sesay depicted the event as one of thanksgiving rather than a farewell, as God provided a person that has rendered services to the nation and not only to his group or religion. She remarked a biblical statement that “The race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong” God is in control of everything as Mr. Sofla is a man sent by God as he does not only lecture Students but train Pastors as well.

In his remarks on behalf of the United Council of Imams, Sheikh Ibrahim Kamara lavished praise on the outgoing Cultural Councilor Mr. Ghezla Sofla for his contribution in setting up the United Council of Imams and since its inception he has played an immense role in helping on the Imams’ welfare in the Country.  He profusely thanked Mr. Ghezla Sofla on behalf of the entire membership and welcomed the Incoming Cultural Consulate Dr. Muhammad Marefat.

In his remarks, the outgoing Iranian Consulate Mr. Ghezla Sofla praised the people of Sierra Leone as they are a people with a rich Culture, Peace, Hospitality and Cooperation. He said he has spent his 14 good years in the Country and is very hard for him to say Goodbye.

Mr. Ghezla Sofla urged the audience to cooperate with his Successor Dr. Mohammad Marefat whom he described as a great educationist and a lecturer at the Tehran University. He thanked the people for their brotherly relationship and prays that Allah will continue to shower peace upon the country.

In his remarks the Incoming Cultural Consulate Dr. Mohammad Marefat said that he admired the way people are showing gratitude to his predecessor which mean that the people of Sierra Leone are so appreciative and thankful for whatever little assistance they have rendered during their term of office. He assured them that he will try to step in the shoes of his predecessor but he relied on the cooperation of the people.

Earlier, Several Islamic Organizations, the Press, Students and Staff of the Iran Cultural Centre gave glorying accolades to the outgoing Cultural Chancellor Mr. Ghezla Sofla and the Occasion was climaxed with the presentation of gifts.
